VISUALIZING THE FUTURE OF ENDOSCOPY
The Canadian Endoscopy (CanEndo) Registry is a prospective research registry that will be launched at St. Michael’s Hospital in 2023. The aim of this registry is to collect (1) patient and endoscopist information, (2) procedural data, (3) pre-, peri-, and post-procedural data, and (4) follow-up data from endoscopic procedures.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Canadian Endoscopy (CanEndo) Database is to promote GI-related healthcare for Canadian populations at the regional and national levels by developing the next generation of guidelines. These aim to improve the current standard of care for Canadian communities. The development of CanEndo is aimed to enhance the understanding of, but not limited to:
-
The risk factors for benign and malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal system
-
The clinical effectiveness and outcomes of all endoscopic procedures
-
The ideal circumstances under which any endoscopic procedure and related techniques should be performed
-
The risk factors for and timelines surrounding endoscopic procedural adverse events
-
The educational aspects of endoscopy as they relate to proficiency and outcomes
Currently, we plan to collect data from the following procedures
1. Capsule Endoscopy
2. Colonoscopy
3. Double-Balloon Enteroscopy
4. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
5. Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)
6. Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)
7. Per-oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM)
8. Push Enteroscopy
9. Procedures for Barrett’s Esophagus
10. Zenker’s Diverticulotomy
